Actors Robbie Daymond, Bonnie Gordon, Molly Searcy; Authors Aaron Reynolds, Sarah Raughley to Appear at Pretty Heroes Convention August 13-14, 2022 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre

Toronto, Ontario – July 21, 2022 – Robbie Daymond, Bonnie Gordon, and Molly Searcy to appear as voice actor guests of honour and will be featured in panels as well as be available for signing autographs. Author guests include Aaron Reynolds and Sarah Raughley, who will be featured in panels related to their works. Additionally, experienced cosplay guests Ammie Cosplay and Bear Sailor Moon will host a variety of craft workshops and cosplay related programming.

Pretty Heroes will occur on August 13-14 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This all ages, inclusive event features a variety of vendors and exhibitors, discussion panels, cosplay catwalks, an idol showcase, anime video screenings, craft workshops, and more. This year will also feature select video screenings of works by local filmmakers.

Robbie Daymond is an accomplished and active voice actor in anime, western animation, and video games. He may be best known as the voice of Tuxedo Mask in the Viz Media dubs of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal as well as the current voice of Spider-man in cartoons and video games. He is also well known for being part of Critical Role.

Bonnie Gordon is an actress, singer, and voiceover actor who prides herself on being a “professional nerd.” Her voiceover credits include cartoons, video games, and anime. She has traveled all over the world singing and guesting at comic cons with her nerdy parody band The Library Bards – taking top 40 hits and transforming them into nerdy, geektastic tunes about sci-fi and fantasy fandoms. She has also put together a solo musical act to promote her new solo album, Con Artist, that is set to be released later this year.

Molly Searcy is a voice actress known for her work as Akame in Akame ga KILL!, Jeanne in The Case Study of Vanitas, Centorea in Monster Musume, Flaming Belial in Combatants Will Be Dispatched!, Rory Mercury in GATE, Isuzu Sento in Amagi Brilliant Park, Mako Reizei in Girls und Panzer, Flare in The Executioner and Her Way of Life, MASKING in BanG Dream!, Polaris Hilda in Saint Seiya, and Honey in SPY x FAMILY.

Author Aaron Reynolds of Effin' Birds fame will be bringing his birds and their words, featured on plenty of merchandise. Fans can look forward to meeting Aaron at his table featuring plenty of Effin' Birds merchandise as well as a book presentation with Q&A. He may also be found in panels speaking about some of his fandom interests and favourite strong female characters.

Sarah Raughley is an author of fantasy novels and a fan of manga, science fiction, fantasy, and role playing games. She has been nominated for The Aurora Award for Best Young Adult novel and works in the community doing writing workshops for youths and adults. On top of being a YA writer, Sarah has a PhD in English. As an academic, Sarah has taught at McMaster University and acted as a postdoctoral fellow at The University of Ottawa. Her research concerns representations of race and gender in popular media culture, youth culture and postcolonialism.

Ammie Cosplay is an internationally recognized masters level cosplayer. She has been featured in several cosplay books and various magazines around the world for her costume work and knowledge on costume construction. Ammie believes in sharing the knowledge she has gained through many years of trial and error to help others.

Bear Sailor Moon is a Canadian cosplayer who has become a local staple in Toronto and cosplay award winner. He has won awards for his distinctive take on the classic anime character including Best In Show for his stunning performance at Fan Expo 2017. A master level cosplayer, he is self-taught at sewing and climbed the ranks quickly with his performances leaving tens across the board. We welcome Bear Sailor Moon as a returning cosplay and musical guest!

About Pretty Heroes: Organized by Emily Gonsalves, this event originally started as the Toronto Sailor Moon Celebration in 2015. The brand name changed in 2018 to shift focus to expand from being a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon event to encompass all strong female characters, the characters who support them, and real-life inspirational women. It is the first and currently only “girl power” themed pop culture convention in Canada. The event is welcoming to all ages and genders. The convention team is unpaid – this event is run by fans for fans.

Admission: $45 pre-registration, $50 at the door for general weekend admission. Youth 6-11 are $5 off admission. Children 5 and under are free. Single day admission and add-ons are also available.
