Golden Cain Manga Creator Yu Asagiri Passes Away

The official website for manga creator You Asagiri (Yū Asagiri) announced on Friday that Asagiri passed away on October 27 after being unable to recover from severe pneumonia. The website stated she was 62.
The website post thanked fans for their support of Asagiri during her 42 years as a manga creator. Asagiri debuted in 1976 with the Hikari Mezashite Tondeike manga. She later serialized the Nana Iro Magic and Konna Panic manga in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine. Nana Iro Magic won a Kodansha Manga Award at the 11th awards in 1987.
Central Park Media released Asagiri's Golden Cain manga in English, and SuBLime released later released the manga digitally. Central Park Media also released Asagiri's four-volume Midnight Panther manga in English. The manga inspired a two-episode OVA series in 1998, which Central Park Media also released on VHS in 1999 and on DVD in 2002.
Asagiri also drew the Sotsugyō Shashin, Onee-san no Jijou, Hitomi no Giwaku, Hitomi no Honne, Gogo no Ihoujin, and Cash Connection manga.
