Harmagedon Anime Film Music Director Keith Emerson Passes Away

The website for the Rolling Stone magazine reported on Friday that Emerson, Lake & Palmer founding member and keyboardist Keith Emerson passed away on Friday. He was 71.
According to Variety, the Santa Monica Police Department in California has confirmed that Emerson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police are investigating the death as a possible suicide.
Emerson served as the music director for Madhouse and Rintarō's 1983 anime film Harmagedon (Genma Taisen). Central Park Media released the film on DVD in 1998 and then re-released the DVD in 2002 and 2005.
Emerson also scored Dario Argento's 1980 horror film Inferno and the 1981 Nighthawks film starring Sylvester Stallone, and he also worked on the 2004 Godzilla: Final Wars film.
Emerson was born in 1944 in Yorkshire, England. Emerson, guitarist Greg Lake, and drummer Carl Palmer formed the Emerson, Lake & Palmer progressive rock band in 1970. The group released nine albums together between 1970 and 1994. They performed their last tour together in 2010.
