Hana & Alice Anime Prequel Film Gets Manga Adaptation
posted on by Rachel Mahoney
The official website of Shogakukan's Yawaraka Spirits (Soft Spirits) online magazine announced on Wednesday that Dowman Sayman will illustrate a manga adaptation of Shunji Iwai's upcoming Hana to Alice Satsujin Jiken (The Case of Hana & Alice) anime film. The manga mini-series will launch in Yawaraka Spirits next February and will coincide with the film's release.
The anime film will be a prequel to Iwai's 2004 live-action film Hana & Alice. Iwai will also direct, write the screenplay, and compose the soundtrack for the anime film that will tell the story of how the two title leads met. The live-action film's lead actresses Yū Aoi (live-action Rurouni Kenshin films, Tekkonkinkreet, Redline) and Anne Suzuki (Steamboy, Pokémon 4Ever, live-action Initial D) will reprise their roles as voice actresses in the anime film.
Dowman's Nickelodeon manga ended in the October issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine.
