Square's original Final Fantasy game for the Nintendo Entertainment System debuted 30 years ago this week. The franchise that the game spawned has reached iconic status and massive popularity worldwide. Many fans and people connected to the franchise took to Twitter to mark the occasion.

The franchise's official English Twitter page posted a fan tribute video.

The manager of Square Enix Cafe in Tokyo posted a celebratory image. He noted that he was only four years old when the game shipped.

The Vas★Robbi band's bassist Kenshilow posted a video of himself playing the game's main theme on a guitar.

Final Fans Museum began streaming the "Vivi's adventures: 30 years of Fantasy" tribute video on YouTube.

Final Fantasy fan @saigonogensou posted a picture of game cartridges for various installments in the franchise.

Square Enix is hosting a Final Fantasy art gallery, titled "A Legacy of Art," to celebrate the game franchise's 30th anniversary at the Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California until January 7. Other celebrations for the anniversary have included the series' first manga, a trailer, a snow sculpture, an escape game, a Cup Noodle collaboration, and honors from Guinness World Records.
