Oh, be serious! Even if there wasn't any blocking, they would have, at best, had 3-4 times as many backers. Still wouldn't have been enough for anything other then Black Jack and Creamy Mami. |

Well, that's a big drag. Anyone who was interested in any of the shows they're streaming will never get to finish them now. Isn't that just going to retard interest in the site even more? Why even try anything they stream if you're just going to be left hanging, even if you pledge fairly generously? |

It sucks but I can understand that decision.
And 12 more days for Creami Mami, the most popular one. However it's still looking grim 
I don't think all these titles should have been competing with each other for pledges. |

I am really sad that Anime Sols seems to be struggling. I think a lot of factors have been pulling them down and it doesn't seem like they will be making it.
I gave to Creamy Mami and Blue Blink and I was really looking forward to having them on my shelf.

Even after I remember that I've always been told to not give up....this smells like a lost cause. Maybe they just can't discover the right avenues to find fans of these old shows, or maybe otakus just can't fork over as much cash as hipsters on Kickstarter can. All I know is, they might want to give up and just run these campaigns on a more successful site, such as Kickstarter or IndieGoGo, where they could get more exposure.

Yikes I'll admit, I've been very skeptical ever since I saw the shows they had chosen. I just don't think there are nearly enough fans of any of this stuff to fund a successful release. The sorts of shows they would have had to run with (and I realize these are probably impossible to get, I'm just saying hypothetically) would be something like Legend of The Galactic Heroes or Turn A Gundam, older shows that people at least talk about showing an interest in, even if that doesn't necessarily translate into actual sales. By contrast I've never seen anyone taking an interest in Yatterman or Creamy Mami as anything more than historical curios. Hell, I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable anime fan and I've never even heard of some of the shows they've got on there. It's sad to see, but I can't say I'm surprised. [/i] |

I said in another thread, I'm not totally sure if it's just the series they picked, the chosen goals, or that the site simply isn't on Kickstarter where it'll have more visibility and traffic. Even if it means giving up full control and longer pledge times, is getting stuff done more important?

Can you say the writing is on the wall. Their biggest problem is that they are trying to get pledges for shows that are just too old. That the fans with money like myself who still buy media and who are more than willing to pledge their hard earned dollars towards getting a physical release don't give dam about the crap they want to license through kickstarter.
I was talking to a bunch of friends a few weeks back and it was discussed that this might have been a good idea 10 years ago or so but the internet wasn't as big back then to get the word out. Even then the shows are just too out of date with paying fans and or younger newer fans. Now if Anime Sols tried to work out deals with the various Anime companies and said we wan't to release X title within the last 10-12 years or so that never got licensed for whatever reason lets get it out their if people will put up enough money then they might have a shot. Just because Time of Eve is such a huge success, doesn't mean that everything can work as a kickstarter. Most of the shows they have listed were made before I was even born, and I'm not that young anymore. I doubt their is a hit that I'm missing out on compared to something made with in the last 10 years or so. I really wish they were doing better but sometimes you know beforehand that a idea is bad even before it starts, that it's destined to fail especially with those sales goals. |

Of all the classics, the one show in their survey, Kimagure Orange Road, would be huge hit. It would be an expensive proposition and would probably be done in sets.. and must absolutely include the movie! ..and the sequels OVAs showcasing life after the tragic movie (if I recall..) would be nice too.
Lum would be pretty big too. But I feel these two may be more suited for Rightstuf/Nozomi.... There are however some older anime listed in their survey that is still modern enough not to look dated. The Nogizaka series, Kemeko DX, GA Art Design, are definitely much more mainstream, relatively speaking, with Nogizaka probably being the most recognizable of them. But what's up with Space Brothers though? |

I think it's a combination of these factors. Add to this the low demand for older shows and the unhappy and vocal consumers outside of the US about region stuff and I don't think they had much of a chance from the start. I do hope that they take the more popular ones to Kickstarter. I still want to give them my moneys. |

speak for yourself man, I pledged $500 for Creamy Mami and I'd do it again too for the next old shoujo show they put out. I love the heck out of vintage magical girl shows. I know trying to sell older stuff is hard, especially if its one that's never gotten released here before and there's no nostalgia factor. But older shows are beautiful, and I'm glad AnimeSols was willing to take the risk and share some with us. You have no idea how sad I am that this isn't working out for them. |
