The series feels on the verge of ending, and the release schedule has been really spotty for a while. I get that writing endings is hard, but it's been tough waiting out this final arc.

LOL I wondered which game Ichikawa-sensei was getting into 
It does make me wonder if Ichikawa-sensei is facing the "How I Met Your Mother" dilemma, where they had an ending in mind when they started the manga, but so much changed in development that now the original ending won't work out. That or the artwork is so intricate that Ichikawa-sensei needs to take prolonged breaks to rest up/work on the art. |

No, I don't think so. While the others may be nowhere near an ending point, Land of the Lustrous very much feels like the ending is imminent. Many people have pointed out the symbolic importance of 108 in Buddhism, and expect it to end there. We recently saw the release of chapter 105, so realistically, there are only three chapters left. Of course, Ichikawa *could* throw us another curve ball, but my money is on her just wanting to do the ending right, but it being really difficult to come up with a properly satisfying one in the remaining space. |
