Only a matter of time with how hard Togashi has been grinding recently.

And so this is what finally pushed Viz to add the series to their membership vault… After all these years, it’s about damn time. Shocked

Speaking for NANA for example, which went onto a hiatus in 2009 after a cliffhanger. The author is well off since but has just shrugged for the most part.

In this context, I feel no sense of entitlement. I didn't pay togashi to write more, I have only paid for what he's written. I don't think creators owe anything to their fans in terms of creative output. Creativity is a resource, and one that's not entirely under a person's conscious control, and a career in doing so is their choice and pursuit.

Yeah I can be frustrated that the story isn't continuing as fast as I want it too, but that feels about the same as me getting mad if it hasn't rained in a while or getting fussed over a band not touring in a long time.

No, it isn't fair to be upset, because you aren't actually being harmed in any way. It's not like there's something that exists which is being withheld from you - a creator is actually going through effort (physically excruciating effort in Togashi's case) to produce something new. If at some point the author just stops forever - which appears to be the case with NANA - you can reasonably be disappointed in the same way you would with a series that doesn't end the way you want it to, but anything past that sort of disappointment is something you're doing to yourself.

Counter argument: I consider that the reason HXH it's so good it's because Togashi has a lot of time to properly think the plot.

As such, without the hiatus HXH wouldn't exist to begin with.

Besides Togashi has a decent enough excuse, other writers *cough*kazue*cough* apparently just got bored of the thing and some level of "upset" may be understandable.

With what exactly? There isn't even a completed arc to be adapted yet

One of my all time favorite manga is back! Can't wait to see what happens next.

On Twitter, Togashi revealed that he is already working on the next batch of ten chapters, so the next gap between chapters shouldn't be nearly as large.

I just hope Togashi is only resuming the manga because he wants to and not because he's being pressured by Shonen Jump.

I feel, as I get older, that it's pretty easy to just move on from a series that goes an extended hiatus. There's not only a glut of all kinds of content to get into but a lot can change in a person's life in 4 years to the point when a series announces its comeback, the news can be met with a shrug.

No. It's not fair to be upset that a man with chronic back problems who has been open about the fact that he can't even wipe his ass after he defecates isn't able to write his comic book because he also can't sit and draw without being in excruciating pain.

Just move on with your life and read another book.
