If you ever needed proof that cancel culture is a myth, look no further than Nobuhiro Watsuki.

More like different cultures cancel people over different things. In Japan, if you're a celebrity caught cheating on your spouse or doing drugs, you become persona non grata. In the west, that can happen to you for saying the "wrong" things.

It'll be interesting to see who releases this internationally. Netflix obviously has no issue with Watsuki given they picked up the most recent live-action movies. Frankly, he's far from the first pedo they've written a cheque to.

I can't see this thread ending well

I guess this is great news for fans who might finally get a full faithful adaptation, or it could end up a rushed mess like the Hakyuu Hoshin Engi remake. I personally wouldn't be able to watch it in good faith.

Either this isn't a remake and I'm crazy cause I'm pretty sure the manga was fully adapted.

The Jinchu arc still haven't got anime adaptation yet. It was just a flashback in the Seisouhen OVA and Kenshin suddenly already fighting Enishi on his island.

But the live-action movies already adapted the arc and it was great.

Jinchuu arc wasn't fully animated, only the final battle got a brief airing in an OVA and it wasn't even fully scoped.

If this is a new animation, then it's either the ongoing Hokkaido arc or a full retelling of the Jinchuu arc. I can't see them doing an original video-only story.

Tatsuhisa Suzuki and Runa Narumi would like to argue otherwise. Suzuki has been stripped of many of his roles recently and Runa lost her shiny colors role along with being radio silent on everything since october.

Welp, that didn't take too long.

On the other hand, I'm gonna watch it in good faith because I just love this franchise regardless of the author's misdeeds, but I hope the voice actor for Kenshin can be a male VA this time. I've always found annoying that 90s anime trend of using female voice actresses for male characters who aren't children.

If you ever needed proof that huge connections allow you to do whatever the hell you want, look no further than Nobuhiro Watsuki. Just be rich and valuable to the industry enough and you will be systematically protected from the EVIL cancel culture! Minor inconveniences like child pornography shouldn't be able to hold you back my friend! Keep on living the dream! A guy should be able to commit a crime or two without suffering the social and professional consequences after all, right??

I think that they could adapt the whole story in 50-60 episodes, considering that the original anime had too much filler and that they could cut out some of the other incidental stuff from the manga. This is an iconic and classic series in Japan, and after the success that the live-action films were and how well the Hokkaido arc is selling, I hope that they can make a worthy adaptation.

Mayo Suzukaze has voiced Kenshin in every animated media and video games (most recently in Jump Force in 2018 I think), I doubt that she will be replaced at this point.

Well now it's up to the licensors, for Bleach it's gonna be Viz, they've already posted a trailer. As for Kenshin it may go to FuniRoll due to it being in the Sony family with AoA, just my assumption though

If you look at the YouTube comments on the Aniplex trailer, no one is commenting on the author's CP issue. Seems like that fact did not enter the public consciousness, or that they forgot about it.
