They also made "Kuzu to Megane to Bungaku Shoujo (Nise)" which I feel was cut really short...

But that series was set in the same universe as Watamote so I wonder if this series will be the case as well?

I wonder if this means that Watamote is coming to an end. That way the creators can focus on this new series instead

Unless Shiroiharu really takes off, unlike every other side project manga that Nico Tanigawa have worked on since starting WataMote nine years ago, I doubt WataMote's coming to an end any time soon.

Even if Shiroiharu becomes more popular than their other side projects, I doubt they'd end WataMote prematurely. Tomoko still has well over half a year of high school left (and just the first five months of her third year have taken almost three years to publish so far). At most, WataMote chapters will just become slightly more infrequent.

EDIT: So I guess this MangaONE thing from Shogakukan is a phone app and there's no official way to read Shiroiharu in Japanese on PC? That's useless to me since I only use my cell phone for phone calls... :-/

There is an error on the article, Watamote started publication on Gangan Online on August 2011, what started publication on 2012 was the volumes, the first one being published on January.

And yeah, let's not kid ourselves, I highly doubt this series will be longer than two volumes if we take Write Sisters and Kuso to Megane to Bungaku Shoujo (Nise) as references.

Also, Watamote is not even close to an end yet, granted the series seems to be gearing to an end at Mokocchi high school graduation ceremony day, but there is still 7 months in-universe for that to happen, so that could be easily one or two more years on publication.

There's also the slight possibility that Watamote might continue on as a college-based series.

Even if WataMote doesn't continue until college, there is at least one post-graduation story arc that has already been telegraphed, spoiler[a post-graduation road/camping trip in a Toyota HiAce with Masaki Yoshida driving].
