The game will have a Japanese voice track with English subtitles.

Didn't notice that it was a sub only game. Disappointing, but maybe they figured it wasn't worth it with people moving on from the 3DS now. That's a lot of actors to have to get for a 3DS game.

It's still hilarious knowing that it's coming from Atlus who for a long time was releasing everything English-only.

Wasn't Persona 5 the first to have Japanese audio and through DLC?

yea, they recently did both persona 3 and 5 dancing games dubbed, so its gotta be the persona 4 cast Razz, aside from laura bailey who was already recasted in the persona 4 dancing game , i dont know why else they wouldnt dub this since they already did the 1st one

They didn't dub the most recent 3DS Shin Megami Tensei game, either, so maybe it is a 3DS thing.

Kanji was also replaced since the arena games, Matt Mercer took over the role

Because it isn't a recasting issue; almost all the party members from the PS2 version of Persona 4 has been replaced at one point or another. Considering Persona is easily their most profitable series, not dubbing PQ2 is a clear sign they don't expect the game to sell well enough to justify the cost.

yea but persona isnt smt strange journey, i figure since they are having a huge press release in march regarding persona 5, i assumed they would put more effort with this...

also im aware they were replaced from vanilla p 4, chie,kanji,teddie..etc, but since then the only major one was laura in dancing all night , she did come back from all the others including the 1st persona Q

though it might just be sales anyhow, the 3ds is dying since the switch is just better.

A shame really, but I guess it's understandable since it's 3DS game. Since Catherine Full Body is getting dub, it's also likely that this is special case and not the norm moving forward.

That’s a huge shame :/ I was looking forward to hearing the great ensemble of English VAs all together again. It’s defintiely not a recasting issue since they just released P5 and P3’s dancing game where everybody reprised their respective roles. The only iffy VA would be Laura Bailey as Rise.

Like some other folks have stated, it’s likely because Atlus doesn’t think it’s worth investing in a dub when the 3DS is slowly becoming more obsolete due to the Switch. I haven’t even touched mine since Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Is anyone aware of the sales numbers for PQ2 in Japan? I’m curious if that could’ve possibly influenced their decision as well.

79,747 copies in the first week. PQ sold 186,856 copies in the same amount of time, though the numbers are from two different sources. Also pretty sure neither includes digital sales.
