Decent, the detail are pretty low which makes me think there going for a long running series (or a short one with very low budget).

The promo art work is reminiscent of the art style from the later parts of the manga, which is a plus in my mind! Now if only they'll tell us how many episodes this will be...

I hope they'll expand and extend the story in the manga's later chapters. I've always felt those parts were a bit rushed compared to the earlier chapters, despite being crazier.
(As much as I usually hope for it in myth-based settings like this, I guess it's okay if there's still no romance subplot in it.) |

...Revealed? This article is from today, but the teaser image was revealed the first day the anime was announced, even if ANN didn't post it, it was at the very least on Crunchyroll.
Either way, I can't help being excited! Houshin Engi is one of my all time favorite pieces of media, not just manga (not counting the original anime, heh.) Of course, it's too early to tell if it will truly suceed in adapting the source material or be even better, or if it will fail, but I want to be optimistic here. In fact, it's unlikely, but I hope that spoiler[when the story is ending and Youzen asks Jyouka how many times she's redone history, they show footage of the original anime as one of the many times she's reset time because it wasn't to her liking. Again, unlikely, but it'd be funny.]
And who would you want the romance subplot to be with? Surely not Taikoubou with Dakki, I hope? Otherwise I can't really see any other woman he could potentially be paired with, and that's being extremely generous on that first possibilty, which I already consider less than 0% if you read the same manga I did. In fact, Taikoubou never shows attraction to any woman! And the closest thing to that is wanting to see Youzen being pretty more than once. I'm not saying they will be romanced, but as a gay person who thinks they have nice chemisty, I'd put Youzen first and only on the list of potential suitors for him. |

Judging by the image, it looks like the anime will stay true to the ginormous shoes of the manga.
